Government Code § 501.062","heading":"STUDY OF RATE OF RECIDIVISM AMONG SEX OFFENDERS.","body":"(a) The department shall conduct a long-term study, for at least 10 years after the date an orchiectomy is performed under Section 501.061, to measure the rate of recidivism among inmates who undergo the procedure.\n(b) During the study period under Subsection (a), with respect to each inmate who undergoes an orchiectomy under Section 501.061 and who volunteers to undergo the evaluations described by this subsection, the department shall provide for:\n(1) a psychiatric or psychological evaluation of the inmate; and\n(2) periodic monitoring and medical evaluation of the presence of the hormone testosterone in the inmate's body.\n(c) Repealed by Acts 2025, 89th Leg., R.S., Ch. 1022 (S.B. 2405), Sec. 105(9), eff. September 1, 2025.\n(d) The department may contract with a public or private entity to conduct the study required under this section.\nAdded by Acts 1997, 75th Leg., ch. 144, Sec. 1, eff.
