Government Code § 54.1175","heading":"POWERS.","body":"Except as limited by an order of the county judge, a magistrate appointed under this subchapter may:\n(1) conduct hearings and trials, including jury trials;\n(2) hear evidence;\n(3) compel production of relevant evidence, including books, papers, vouchers, documents, and other writings;\n(4) rule on admissibility of evidence;\n(5) issue summons and attachments for the appearance of witnesses;\n(6) examine witnesses;\n(7) swear witnesses for hearings and trials; and\n(8) perform any act and take any measure necessary and proper for the efficient performance of the duties assigned by the county judge.\nAdded by Acts 2003, 78th Leg., ch. 137, Sec. 2, eff.
