Government Code § 610.001","heading":"DEFINITIONS.","body":"In this chapter:\n(1) \"Program administrator\" means:\n(A) for a state employee employed by The University of Texas System or The Texas A\u0026M University System, the applicable system; or\n(B) for every other state employee, the Employees Retirement System of Texas.\n(2) \"School district\" has the meaning assigned by Section 11.13, Tax Code.\n(3) \"School district employee\" means a person who receives compensation for service performed, other than as an independent contractor, for a school district.\n(4) \"State agency\" means:\n(A) a board, commission, department, office, or other agency that is in the executive branch of state government and that was created by the constitution or a statute of the state, including an institution of higher education as defined by Section 61.003, Education Code;\n(B) the legislature or a legislative agency; or\n(C) the Supreme Court of Texas, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, a court of appeals, or a state judicial agency.\n(5) \"State employee\" means:\n(A) a person who receives compensation for service performed, other than as an independent contractor, for a state agency; or\n(B) a district judge.\nAdded by Acts 1993, 73rd Leg., ch. 268, Sec. 1, eff.
