Government Code § 76.0051","heading":"AUTHORIZATION TO CARRY WEAPON.","body":"An officer is authorized to carry a weapon while engaged in the actual discharge of the officer's duties only if:\n(1) the officer possesses a certificate of firearms proficiency issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement under Section 1701.257, Occupations Code; and\n(2) the director of the department agrees to the authorization.\nAdded by Acts 1997, 75th Leg., ch. 1261, Sec. 29, eff.
