Health and Safety Code § 100.001","heading":"DEFINITIONS.","body":"In this chapter:\n(1) \"Emerging disease\" means a disease that is appearing in a specific population for the first time or that is increasing in incidence or geographic range.\n(2) \"Health facility\" includes:\n(A) a general or special hospital licensed by the department under Chapter 241;\n(B) a physician-owned or physician-operated clinic;\n(C) a publicly or privately funded medical school;\n(D) a state hospital or state school maintained and managed by the department or the Department of Aging and Disability Services;\n(E) a public health clinic conducted by a local health unit, health department, or public health district organized and recognized under Chapter 121; and\n(F) another facility specified by a rule adopted by the executive commissioner.\n(3) \"Local health unit\" has the meaning assigned by Section 121.004.\n(4) \"Neglected tropical disease\" means a parasitic or bacterial disease that:\n(A) occurs solely or principally in the tropics;\n(B) is largely endemic in the developing world; and\n(C) has a potential to spread through international travel or trade.\nAdded by Acts 2015, 84th Leg., R.S., Ch. 758 (H.B. 2055), Sec. 1, eff.
