Health and Safety Code § 146.001","heading":"DEFINITIONS.","body":"In this chapter:\n(1) \"Body piercing\" means the creation of an opening in an individual's body, other than in an individual's earlobe, to insert jewelry or another decoration.\n(1-a) \"Body piercer\" means a person who performs body piercing.\n(2) \"Body piercing studio\" means a facility in which body piercing is performed.\n(3) \"Tattoo\" means the practice of producing an indelible mark or figure on the human body by scarring or inserting a pigment under the skin using needles, scalpels, or other related equipment. The term includes the application of permanent cosmetics.\n(4) \"Tattooist\" means a person who performs tattooing.\n(5) \"Tattoo studio\" means an establishment or facility in which tattooing is performed.\n(6) \"Temporary location\" means a fixed location at which an individual operator performs tattooing or body piercing for a specified period of not more than seven days in conjunction with a single event or celebration, where the primary function of the event or celebration is tattooing or body piercing.\nAdded by Acts 1993, 73rd Leg., ch. 580, Sec. 1, eff.
