Health and Safety Code § 47.011","heading":"DUTIES OF MIDWIFE.","body":"(a) In this section, \"midwife\" has the meaning assigned by Section 203.002, Occupations Code, and includes a nurse midwife described by Section 301.152, Occupations Code.\n(b) A midwife who attends the birth of a newborn:\n(1) is not required to offer the parents of the newborn a hearing screening for the newborn for the identification of hearing loss; and\n(2) shall refer the parents of the newborn to a birthing facility or a provider that participates in the program and make a record of the referral.\nAdded by Acts 2011, 82nd Leg., R.S., Ch. 1273 (H.B. 411), Sec. 11, eff.
