Health and Safety Code § 592.038","heading":"FREEDOM FROM UNNECESSARY MEDICATION.","body":"(a) Each client has the right to not receive unnecessary or excessive medication.\n(b) Medication may not be used:\n(1) as punishment;\n(2) for the convenience of the staff;\n(3) as a substitute for a habilitation program; or\n(4) in quantities that interfere with the client's habilitation program.\n(c) Medication for each client may be authorized only by prescription of a physician and a physician shall closely supervise its use.\n(d) Each client has the right to refuse psychoactive medication, as provided by Subchapter F.\nAdded by Acts 1991, 72nd Leg., ch. 76, Sec. 1, eff.
