Health and Safety Code § 763.001 (2)","heading":"DEFINITIONS.","body":"In this subchapter:\n(1) \"Commission\" means the Health and Human Services Commission.\n(2) \"Executive commissioner\" means the executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission.\n(3) \"Human trafficking\" means conduct that constitutes an offense under Section 20A.02, Penal Code.\n(4) \"Medical assistant\" means an individual who, under the supervision of a physician, assists with patient care management, executes administrative duties, and performs clinical procedures, including:\n(A) conducting aseptic procedures;\n(B) obtaining vital signs;\n(C) preparing patients for the physician's care;\n(D) performing venipunctures and non-intravenous injections;\n(E) observing and reporting patients' symptoms;\n(F) administering basic first aid;\n(G) assisting with patient examinations or treatments;\n(H) operating office medical equipment;\n(I) collecting routine laboratory specimens, as directed by the physician;\n(J) administering medication, as directed by the physician;\n(K) performing basic laboratory procedures; and\n(L) performing dialysis procedures, including home dialysis.\nAdded by Acts 2025, 89th Leg., R.S., Ch. 376 (H.B. 754), Sec. 2, eff.
