Insurance Code § 1102.001","heading":"DEFINITIONS.","body":"In this chapter:\n(1) \"Insurance policy\" means a policy, certificate, or contract of:\n(A) life, term, or endowment insurance, including an annuity or pure endowment contract;\n(B) group life or term insurance, including a group annuity contract;\n(C) industrial life insurance;\n(D) accident or health insurance;\n(E) group accident or health insurance;\n(F) hospitalization insurance;\n(G) group hospitalization insurance;\n(H) medical or surgical insurance;\n(I) group medical or surgical insurance; or\n(J) fraternal benefit insurance.\n(2) \"Insurer\" means any insurer, including a:\n(A) life, accident, health, or casualty insurance company;\n(B) mutual life insurance company;\n(C) mutual insurance company other than a life insurance company;\n(D) mutual or natural premium life insurance company;\n(E) general casualty company;\n(F) Lloyd's plan or a reciprocal or interinsurance exchange;\n(G) fraternal benefit society; or\n(H) group hospital service corporation.\nAdded by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1419, Sec. 2, eff.
