Insurance Code § 1358.051","heading":"DEFINITIONS.","body":"In this subchapter:\n(1) \"Diabetes equipment\" means:\n(A) blood glucose monitors, including noninvasive glucose monitors and glucose monitors designed to be used by blind individuals;\n(B) insulin pumps and associated appurtenances;\n(C) insulin infusion devices; and\n(D) podiatric appliances for the prevention of complications associated with diabetes.\n(2) \"Diabetes supplies\" means:\n(A) test strips for blood glucose monitors;\n(B) visual reading and urine test strips;\n(C) lancets and lancet devices;\n(D) insulin and insulin analogs;\n(E) injection aids;\n(F) syringes;\n(G) prescriptive and nonprescriptive oral agents for controlling blood sugar levels; and\n(H) glucagon emergency kits.\n(3) \"Nutrition counseling\" has the meaning assigned by Section 701.002, Occupations Code.\n(4) \"Qualified enrollee\" means an individual eligible for coverage under a health benefit plan who has been diagnosed with:\n(A) insulin dependent or noninsulin dependent diabetes;\n(B) elevated blood glucose levels induced by pregnancy; or\n(C) another medical condition associated with elevated blood glucose levels.\nAdded by Acts 2003, 78th Leg., ch. 1274, Sec. 3, eff.
