Insurance Code § 2251.001","heading":"PURPOSE.","body":"The purposes of this subchapter and Subchapters B, C, D, and E are to:\n(1) promote the public welfare by regulating insurance rates to prohibit excessive, inadequate, or unfairly discriminatory rates;\n(2) promote the availability of insurance;\n(3) promote price competition among insurers to provide rates and premiums that are responsive to competitive market conditions;\n(4) prohibit price-fixing agreements and other anticompetitive behavior by insurers; and\n(5) provide regulatory procedures for the maintenance of appropriate information reporting systems.\nAdded by Acts 2005, 79th Leg., Ch. 727 (H.B. 2017), Sec. 2, eff.
