Insurance Code § 38.051","heading":"DEFINITION.","body":"In this subchapter, \"health benefit plan provider\" means an insurance company, group hospital service corporation, or health maintenance organization that issues:\n(1) an individual, group, blanket, or franchise insurance policy, an insurance agreement, a group hospital service contract, or an evidence of coverage, that provides benefits for medical or surgical expenses incurred as a result of an accident or sickness; or\n(2) a long-term care benefit plan, as defined by Section 1651.003.\nAdded by Acts 1999, 76th Leg., ch. 101, Sec. 1, eff.
