Insurance Code § 401.001","heading":"DEFINITIONS.","body":"In this subchapter:\n(1) \"Accountant\" means an independent certified public accountant or accounting firm that meets the requirements of Section 401.011.\n(2) \"Affiliate\" has the meaning assigned by Section 823.003.\n(3) \"Health maintenance organization\" means a health maintenance organization authorized to engage in business in this state.\n(4) \"Insurer\" means an insurer authorized to engage in business in this state, including:\n(A) a life, health, or accident insurance company;\n(B) a fire and marine insurance company;\n(C) a general casualty company;\n(D) a title insurance company;\n(E) a fraternal benefit society;\n(F) a mutual life insurance company;\n(G) a local mutual aid association;\n(H) a statewide mutual assessment company;\n(I) a mutual insurance company other than a mutual life insurance company;\n(J) a farm mutual insurance company;\n(K) a county mutual insurance company;\n(L) a Lloyd's plan;\n(M) a reciprocal or interinsurance exchange;\n(N) a group hospital service corporation;\n(O) a stipulated premium company; and\n(P) a nonprofit legal services corporation.\n(5) \"Subsidiary\" has the meaning assigned by Section 823.003.\nAdded by Acts 2005, 79th Leg., Ch. 727 (H.B. 2017), Sec. 1, eff.
