Insurance Code § 885.701","heading":"FALSE STATEMENTS; CRIMINAL PENALTY.","body":"(a) A person commits an offense if the person wilfully makes a false or fraudulent statement or representation:\n(1) in or with reference to an application for membership in a fraternal benefit society authorized to engage in business in this state; or\n(2) for the purpose of obtaining money from or benefits in a fraternal benefit society transacting business under this chapter.\n(b) An offense under this section is a misdemeanor punishable by:\n(1) a fine of not less than $100 or more than $500;\n(2) confinement in jail for not less than 30 days or more than one year; or\n(3) both the fine and confinement.\nAdded by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1419, Sec. 1, eff.
