Insurance Code § 885.703","heading":"SOLICITING MEMBERSHIP IN LODGE OF UNAUTHORIZED FRATERNAL BENEFIT SOCIETY; CRIMINAL PENALTY.","body":"(a) A person commits an offense if the person solicits for or organizes a lodge of a fraternal benefit society without first obtaining from the commissioner a certificate of authority that entitles the society to engage in business in this state.\n(b) An offense under this section is a misdemeanor punishable by:\n(1) a fine of not less than $100 or more than $250;\n(2) confinement in jail for not less than three months or more than six months; or\n(3) both a fine and confinement.\nAdded by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1419, Sec. 1, eff.
