Labor Code § 503.001","heading":"DEFINITIONS.","body":"In this chapter:\n(1) \"Commissioner\" means the commissioner of workers' compensation.\n(1-a) \"Division\" means the division of workers' compensation of the Texas Department of Insurance.\n(2) \"Employee\" means a person employed in the service of the system under an appointment or oral or written express contract for hire whose name appears on the system's payroll.\n(3) \"Institution\" means an institution of higher education or agency under the direction of the board of regents of The University of Texas System.\n(4) \"System\" has the meaning assigned by Section 65.01(1), Education Code.\nActs 1993, 73rd Leg., ch. 269, Sec. 1, eff.
