Local Government Code § 177.001","heading":"CERTAIN COVERAGE AUTHORIZED.","body":"(a) A county or other political subdivision of this state may procure contracts insuring the political subdivision's officials, employees, and retirees or any class of the political subdivision's officials, employees, and retirees under a policy of group life, group health, accident, accidental death and dismemberment, or hospital, surgical, or medical expense insurance.\n(b) The dependents of those officials, employees, and retirees may be insured under a group policy that provides:\n(1) health insurance; or\n(2) hospital, surgical, or medical expense insurance.\nAdded by Acts 2007, 80th Leg., R.S., Ch. 730 (H.B. 2636), Sec. 1K.002, eff.
