Local Government Code § 215.024","heading":"TANNERIES; STABLES; SLAUGHTERHOUSES; OTHER BUSINESSES.","body":"(a) As necessary for the health, comfort, and convenience of the residents of the municipality, the governing body of the municipality may compel the owner or occupant to clean, abate, or remove:\n(1) a grocery;\n(2) a soap, tallow, or chandler establishment;\n(3) a blacksmith shop;\n(4) a tannery;\n(5) a stable;\n(6) a slaughterhouse;\n(7) a sewer;\n(8) a privy;\n(9) a hide house; or\n(10) any other unwholesome or nauseous house or place.\n(b) The governing body may direct the location of:\n(1) businesses;\n(2) tanneries;\n(3) blacksmith shops;\n(4) foundries;\n(5) livery stables; and\n(6) manufacturing establishments.\n(c) Within the limits of a municipality, the governing body may restrain, abate, prohibit, direct the location of, or regulate the management or construction of:\n(1) slaughtering establishments;\n(2) hide houses;\n(3) establishments for making soap;\n(4) establishments for steaming or rendering lard, tallow, offal, or any other substances that may be rendered; and\n(5) any other establishments or places at which any nauseous, offensive, or unwholesome business may be conducted.\nActs 1987, 70th Leg., ch. 149, Sec. 1, eff.
