Local Government Code § 22.005","heading":"OATH FOR ELECTED OR APPOINTED OFFICER.","body":"(a) A person who is elected or appointed to a municipal office under this code must take and sign the official oath of office before beginning to perform the duties of the office.\n(b) The governing body of the municipality by ordinance may require a municipal officer to take any additional oath that the governing body considers best calculated to secure the faithful performance of the officer's duties.\nActs 1987, 70th Leg., ch. 149, Sec. 1, eff.
