Local Government Code § 23.029","heading":"ABOLITION OF OFFICE OF MARSHAL.","body":"The governing body of a municipality with a population of less than 5,000 by ordinance may abolish the office of marshal and, by the same ordinance, confer the duties of the office on a municipal police officer appointed as the governing body directs or on any other peace officer of the county.
