Local Government Code § 231.034","heading":"COMPLIANCE WITH COMPREHENSIVE PLAN.","body":"Zoning regulations must be adopted in accordance with a comprehensive plan and must be designed to:\n(1) lessen congestion in the streets and roads;\n(2) secure safety from fire, panic, and other dangers;\n(3) promote health and the general welfare;\n(4) provide adequate light and air;\n(5) prevent the overcrowding of land;\n(6) avoid undue concentration of population;\n(7) facilitate the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewers, parks, and other public requirements; and\n(8) assist in developing the area into parks, playgrounds, and recreational areas for the residents of this state and other states and nations.\nActs 1987, 70th Leg., ch. 149, Sec. 1, eff.
