Local Government Code § 344.255","heading":"FILING OF PETITION.","body":"To form the basis for the ordering of a referendum, the petition must:\n(1) be filed with the clerk or secretary of the municipality not later than the 60th day after the date of its issuance; and\n(2) contain at least a number of signatures of registered voters of the municipality equal to five percent of the number of votes cast in the municipality for all candidates for governor in the most recent gubernatorial general election.\nAdded by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1295, Sec. 1, eff.
