Local Government Code § 344.260","heading":"RESULTS OF REFERENDUM.","body":"(a) If less than a majority of the votes cast in a continuation referendum election are for the continuation of a district or if a majority of the votes cast in a dissolution referendum are for dissolution of the district:\n(1) the board shall certify that fact to the secretary of state not later than the 10th day after the date of the canvass of the returns; and\n(2) the district is dissolved and ceases to operate as provided by Section 344.301.\n(b) If a majority of the votes cast in a continuation referendum election are for the continuation of the district or if less than a majority of the votes cast in a dissolution referendum election are for dissolution of the district, another referendum may not be held except as authorized by Section 344.251.\nAdded by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1295, Sec. 1, eff.
