Local Government Code § 351.034","heading":"ADMINISTRATOR.","body":"(a) The sheriff of the county in which the jail is located shall serve as administrator of the jail.\n(b) The sheriff may decline to serve as administrator by filing a written statement with the commissioners court of that county.\n(c) If the sheriff declines to serve as administrator, the commissioners courts of the contracting counties shall jointly appoint a jail administrator. Until an individual is appointed and assumes the duties of jail administrator, the sheriff shall serve as administrator of the jail.\n(d) If there is a vacancy in the position of jail administrator, the sheriff shall serve as administrator of the jail until a new jail administrator is appointed and assumes the position.\nActs 1987, 70th Leg., ch. 149, Sec. 1, eff.
