Local Government Code § 5.902","heading":"CHANGE IN DESIGNATION FROM TOWN TO CITY.","body":"(a) The governing body of a Type A general-law municipality that was designated as a \"town\" may change by ordinance its designation to a \"city.\"\n(b) A change in designation does not affect the municipality's corporate existence or powers.\n(c) Bonds that are voted by a municipality and are unissued before the municipality changes its designation may be issued in the new name of the municipality as designated in the ordinance changing the designation.\nActs 1987, 70th Leg., ch. 149, Sec. 1, eff.
