Local Government Code § 61.001","heading":"AUTHORITY TO CONSOLIDATE.","body":"The following municipalities may consolidate under one government in the manner provided by this chapter:\n(1) two or more contiguous municipalities in the same county; or\n(2) two noncontiguous municipalities located in the same county if:\n(A) the distance between the municipalities is less than 2.5 miles; and\n(B) each municipality is located within one mile of an international boundary.\nActs 1987, 70th Leg., ch. 149, Sec. 1, eff.
