Local Government Code § 88.004","heading":"OFFICER TO STOP EXERCISING FUNCTIONS OF OFFICE.","body":"On service of notice under Section 88.003, an officer shall stop exercising the functions of the officer's office, except that:\n(1) the officer shall preserve records and property in the officer's charge; and\n(2) if the officer is a sheriff or constable, the officer shall:\n(A) keep prisoners;\n(B) preserve the peace; and\n(C) execute warrants of arrest.\nAdded by Acts 1993, 73rd Leg., ch. 268, Sec. 23, eff.
