Occupations Code § 104.003","heading":"REQUIRED IDENTIFICATION.","body":"(a) A person subject to this section who uses the person's name on a written or printed professional identification, including a sign, pamphlet, stationery, or letterhead, or who uses the person's signature as a professional identification shall designate as required by this section the healing art the person is licensed to practice.\n(b) A person who is licensed by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and holds a doctor of medicine degree shall use:\n(1) physician or surgeon, M.D.;\n(2) doctor, M.D.; or\n(3) doctor of medicine, M.D.\n(c) A person who is licensed by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and holds a doctor of osteopathy degree shall use:\n(1) physician or surgeon, D.O.;\n(2) osteopathic physician or surgeon;\n(3) doctor, D.O.;\n(4) doctor of osteopathy;\n(5) doctor of osteopathic medicine;\n(6) osteopath; or\n(7) D.O.\n(d) A person who is licensed by the State Board of Dental Examiners shall use:\n(1) dentist;\n(2) doctor, D.D.S.;\n(3) doctor of dental surgery;\n(4) D.D.S.; or\n(5) doctor of dental medicine, D.M.D.\n(e) A person who is licensed by the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners shall use:\n(1) chiropractor;\n(2) doctor, D.C.;\n(3) doctor of chiropractic; or\n(4) D.C.\n(f) A person who is licensed by the Texas Optometry Board shall use:\n(1) optometrist;\n(2) doctor, optometrist;\n(3) doctor of optometry; or\n(4) O.D.\n(g) A person who is licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to practice podiatry shall use:\n(1) chiropodist;\n(2) doctor, D.S.C.;\n(3) doctor of surgical chiropody;\n(4) D.S.C.;\n(5) podiatrist;\n(6) doctor, D.P.M.;\n(7) doctor of podiatric medicine; or\n(8) D.P.M.\nActs 1999, 76th Leg., ch. 388, Sec. 1, eff.
