Occupations Code § 1603.2101","heading":"INDIVIDUAL PRACTITIONER LICENSE OR STUDENT PERMIT REQUIRED; USE OF CERTAIN TERMS WITHOUT LICENSE PROHIBITED.","body":"(a) A person may not perform or offer or attempt to perform any act of barbering or cosmetology unless the person holds a license or permit issued under this subchapter to perform that act.\n(b) Unless the person holds an appropriate license issued under this subchapter, a person may not directly or indirectly use or cause to be used as a professional or business identification, title, name, representation, asset, or means of advantage or benefit:\n(1) the term \"barber\" or \"barbering\";\n(2) the term \"cosmetologist\" or \"cosmetology\"; or\n(3) any combination, variation, or abbreviation of the terms listed in Subdivisions (1) and (2).\nAdded by Acts 2021, 87th Leg., R.S., Ch. 663 (H.B. 1560), Sec. 3.20, eff.
