Occupations Code § 455.159","heading":"STUDENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM.","body":"(a) An internship program must:\n(1) meet the qualifications established by the department;\n(2) provide a student with a minimum of 40 hours of hands-on massage therapy experience; and\n(3) be conducted on the school grounds or in a clinic or classroom setting provided by the massage school or massage therapy instructor.\n(b) A student must complete the first 250 hours of required training at a massage school or with a massage therapy instructor before the student is eligible to enter an internship program.\n(c) A student who is participating in an internship program must be under the supervision and direction of a massage therapy instructor during the hours that the student is working in the program.\n(d) A student who is participating in an internship program may:\n(1) make an appointment with a client;\n(2) interview a client;\n(3) provide massage therapy, including providing massage therapy for compensation in an amount set by the massage school or massage therapy instructor and paid to the school or instructor;\n(4) collect and review a client evaluation with the student's supervisor; and\n(5) perform other tasks necessary to the business of providing massage therapy to the public.\nActs 1999, 76th Leg., ch. 388, Sec. 1, eff.
