Special District Local Laws Code § 1086.054","heading":"QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE.","body":"(a) To be eligible to be a candidate for an elected position or to serve as an elected director, a person must be:\n(1) a resident of the district; and\n(2) a registered voter.\n(b) To be eligible to serve as an appointed director, a person must be a registered voter.\n(c) In addition to the qualifications required by Subsection (a), a person who is elected from a commissioners precinct or who is appointed to fill a vacancy for a commissioners precinct must be a resident of that commissioners precinct.\n(d) A district employee may not serve as a director.\nAdded by Acts 2011, 82nd Leg., R.S., Ch. 70 (S.B. 1147), Sec. 1.01, eff.
