Special District Local Laws Code § 8504.201","heading":"DEFINITION.","body":"In this subchapter, \"economic development program\" includes a community assistance program, a privatization program, or any other program designed to:\n(1) encourage economic diversification;\n(2) maintain or expand employment;\n(3) train persons;\n(4) eliminate conditions detrimental to the public health, safety, or welfare;\n(5) improve the quality or quantity of services essential for the development of viable communities and economic growth, including services related to:\n(A) education;\n(B) transportation;\n(C) public safety;\n(D) recreation;\n(E) health care;\n(F) water and wastewater treatment; or\n(G) rural water and sewer development; or\n(6) contribute to the health and development of a community to improve the attractiveness of the community to public and private enterprises.\nAdded by Acts 2013, 83rd Leg., R.S., Ch. 112 (S.B. 1026), Sec. 1.04, eff.
