Transportation Code § 225.001","heading":"RESTRICTIONS ON NAMING HIGHWAY.","body":"(a) The commission may not designate a part of the highway system, including a bridge or street, by a name, including the name of a living individual or for an organization or event, or by a symbol other than the regular highway number.\n(b) Except as otherwise provided by statute, a part of the highway system, including a bridge or street, may not be designated by a name.\n(c) A part of the highway system, including a bridge or street, may be designated by the name of a person only if the person is deceased and was significant:\n(1) in the state's history; or\n(2) in the lives of the people of this state.\nActs 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 165, Sec. 1, eff.
