Transportation Code § 521.144","heading":"APPLICATION BY NEW STATE RESIDENT.","body":"(a) A new resident of this state who applies for a driver's license must submit with the application:\n(1) evidence that each motor vehicle owned by the person is registered under Chapter 502; or\n(2) an affidavit that the applicant does not own a motor vehicle required to be registered under Chapter 502.\n(b) The department may not issue a driver's license to a new resident who fails to comply with Subsection (a).\n(c) A registration receipt issued by a county assessor-collector in this state is satisfactory evidence that a motor vehicle is registered under Chapter 502.\nActs 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 165, Sec. 1, eff.
