Transportation Code § 601.195","heading":"OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLE IN VIOLATION OF REQUIREMENT TO ESTABLISH FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY; OFFENSE.","body":"(a) A person commits an offense if the person:\n(1) is required to establish financial responsibility under Subchapter F or K;\n(2) does not maintain evidence of financial responsibility; and\n(3) during the period evidence of financial responsibility must be maintained:\n(A) operates on a highway a motor vehicle owned by the person; or\n(B) knowingly permits another person, who is not otherwise permitted to operate a vehicle under this chapter, to operate on a highway a motor vehicle owned by the person.\n(b) An offense under this section is a misdemeanor punishable by:\n(1) a fine not to exceed $500;\n(2) confinement in county jail for a term not to exceed six months; or\n(3) both the fine and the confinement.\nActs 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 165, Sec. 1, eff.
