Transportation Code § 70.017","heading":"DUTIES.","body":"The board shall:\n(1) recommend to the governor the number of pilots necessary to provide adequate pilot services for the Port of Corpus Christi;\n(2) examine and determine the qualifications of each applicant for branch pilot;\n(3) submit to the governor the names of persons who have qualified under this chapter to be appointed as branch pilots;\n(4) establish pilotage rates;\n(5) approve any changes of the locations of pilot stations;\n(6) establish times during which pilot services will be available;\n(7) hear and determine complaints relating to the conduct of pilots;\n(8) make recommendations to the governor concerning any pilot whose license or certificate should not be renewed or should be revoked;\n(9) adopt rules and issue orders to pilots and vessels when necessary to secure efficient pilot services; and\n(10) institute investigations or hearings or both to consider casualties, accidents, or other actions that violate this chapter.\nAdded by Acts 1997, 75th Leg., ch. 359, Sec. 4, eff.
