Water Code § 57.091","heading":"PURPOSES OF DISTRICT.","body":"A district may be created for the following purposes:\n(1) to construct and maintain levees and other improvements on, along, and contiguous to rivers, creeks, and streams;\n(2) to reclaim lands from overflow from these streams;\n(3) to control and distribute the waters of rivers and streams by straightening and otherwise improving them; and\n(4) to provide for the proper drainage and other improvement of the reclaimed land.\nActs 1971, 62nd Leg., p. 110, ch. 58, Sec. 1, eff.
