{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-10-19-202","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 10-19-202","heading":"Renewable energy certificate -- Use to satisfy other requirements.","body":"(1) A municipal electric utility may buy, sell, trade, or otherwise transfer a renewable energy certificate issued or recognized under Section 54-17-603.\n(2) For the purpose of satisfying Subsection 10-19-201(1) and the issuance of a renewable energy certificate under Section 54-17-603:\n(a) a clean energy source located in this state that derives its energy from solar photovoltaic and solar thermal energy shall be credited for 2.4 kilowatt-hours of qualifying electricity for each 1.0 kilowatt-hour generated; and\n(b) if two or more municipal electric utilities jointly own a renewable energy resource, each municipal electric utility shall be credited with 1.0 kilowatt-hour of qualifying electricity for 1.0 kilowatt-hour of the renewable energy resource allocated to the municipal electric utility by contract, unless the contract otherwise provides.\n(3) A renewable energy certificate:\n(a) may be used only once to satisfy Subsection 10-19-201(1);\n(b) may be used to satisfy Subsection 10-19-201(1) and the qualifying electricity on which the renewable energy certificate is based may be used to satisfy any federal renewable energy requirement; and\n(c) may not be used if it has been used to satisfy any other state's renewable energy requirement.","path":["Title 10 Utah Municipal Code","Chapter 10-19 Municipal Electric Utility Carbon Emission Reduction Act","Part 10-19-2 Renewable Energy Provisions"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title10/Chapter19/10-19-S202.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"c855d2c0c0f579d44cc9ff56e4d3a2e993b100a309289fe1224b7cc30d347587","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-10-19-201","next":"us-ut/utah-code-10-19-301"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
