{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-10-20-622","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 10-20-622","heading":"Operation of a tower crane.","body":"(1) As used in this section:\n(a) \"Affected land\" means a parcel of land over which a part of a tower crane travels, other than the parcel on which the tower crane is located.\n(b) \"Airspace approval\" means a license, easement, permission of the owner of affected land, or other approval for a part of a tower crane to travel within the air space over affected land.\n(c)\n(i) \"Live load\" means material being suspended from or lifted by a tower crane.\n(ii) \"Live load\" does not include the components of a tower crane.\n(d) \"Permit period\" means the period during which a land use permit is in effect.\n(e)\n(i) \"Tower crane\" means a crane that is attached to and supported by a building or foundation.\n(ii) \"Tower crane\" does not include a crane supported by tracks or tires.\n(2) Except as provided in Subsection (3), a municipality may not require airspace approval as a condition for the municipality's:\n(a) approval of a building permit; or\n(b) authorization of a development activity.\n(3) A municipality may require airspace approval relating to affected land as a condition for the municipality's approval of a building permit or for the municipality's authorization of a development activity if:\n(a) the tower crane will, during the permit period or development activity, carry a live load over the affected land; or\n(b) the affected land is within:\n(i) an airport overlay zone; or\n(ii) another zone designated to protect the airspace around an airport.","path":["Title 10 Utah Municipal Code","Chapter 10-20 Municipal Land Use, Development, and Management Act","Part 10-20-6 Land Use Regulations - Particular Situations"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title10/Chapter20/10-20-S622.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"cfedfbe2696776528e7c3e1990b1bb0e5cb8b1441bd3142d17d167098ce809f8","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-10-20-621","next":"us-ut/utah-code-10-20-623"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
