{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-10-3b-105","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 10-3b-105","heading":"Municipal council in six-member council and five-member council forms of government.","body":"In a municipality operating under a six-member council form of government or a five-member council form of government, the council:\n(1) is the legislative body of the municipality and exercises the legislative powers and performs the legislative duties and functions of the municipality; and\n(2) may:\n(a) adopt rules and regulations, not inconsistent with statute, for the efficient administration, organization, operation, conduct, and business of the municipality;\n(b) prescribe by resolution additional duties, powers, and responsibilities for any elected or appointed municipal official, unless prohibited by statute;\n(c) require by ordinance that any or all appointed officers reside in the municipality;\n(d) create any office that the council considers necessary for the government of the municipality;\n(e) provide for filling a vacancy in an elective or appointive office;\n(f) take any action allowed under Section 10-8-84; and\n(g) perform any function specifically provided for by statute or necessarily implied by law.","path":["Title 10 Utah Municipal Code","Chapter 10-3b Forms of Municipal Government","Part 10-3b-1 General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title10/Chapter3b/10-3b-S105.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"13438ca04ded0561356350be77dc24c9dcb5fa20c0d9549e61fa2b642424888f","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-10-3b-104","next":"us-ut/utah-code-10-3b-201"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
