{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-11-14-318","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 11-14-318","heading":"Public hearing required -- Notice.","body":"(1) Before issuing bonds authorized under this chapter, a local political subdivision shall:\n(a) in accordance with Subsection (2), provide public notice of the local political subdivision's intent to issue bonds; and\n(b) hold a public hearing:\n(i) if an election is required under this chapter:\n(A) no sooner than 30 days before the day on which the notice of election is published under Section 11-14-202; and\n(B) no later than five business days before the day on which the notice of election is published under Section 11-14-202; and\n(ii) to receive input from the public with respect to:\n(A) the issuance of the bonds; and\n(B) the potential economic impact that the improvement, facility, or property for which the bonds pay all or part of the cost will have on the private sector.\n(2) A local political subdivision shall:\n(a) publish the notice required by Subsection (1)(a) for the local political subdivision, as a class A notice under Section 63G-30-102, for no less than 14 days before the day of the public hearing required by Subsection (1)(b); and\n(b) ensure that the notice:\n(i) identifies:\n(A) the purpose for the issuance of the bonds;\n(B) the maximum principal amount of the bonds to be issued;\n(C) the taxes, if any, proposed to be pledged for repayment of the bonds; and\n(D) the time, place, and location of the public hearing; and\n(ii) informs the public that the public hearing will be held for the purposes described in Subsection (1)(b)(ii).","path":["Title 11 Cities, Counties, and Local Taxing Units","Chapter 11-14 Local Government Bonding Act","Part 11-14-3 Issuance of Bonds"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title11/Chapter14/11-14-S318.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"97f3da7fcc85d9554e2d3a34cb948969af0f5646a9da1a2f57ef6373928ee300","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-11-14-317","next":"us-ut/utah-code-11-14-401"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
