{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-11-42-204","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 11-42-204","heading":"Hearing.","body":"(1) On the date and at the time and place specified in the notice under Section 11-42-202, the governing body shall hold a public hearing.\n(2)\n(a) The governing body:\n(i) subject to Subsection (2)(a)(ii), may continue the public hearing from time to time to a fixed future date and time; and\n(ii) may not hold a public hearing that is a continuance less than five days before the deadline for filing protests described in Section 11-42-203.\n(b) The continuance of a public hearing does not restart or extend the protest period described in Subsection 11-42-203(1).\n(3) At the public hearing, the governing body shall hear all:\n(a) objections to the designation of the proposed assessment area or the improvements proposed to be provided in the assessment area;\n(b) objections to whether the assessment will meet the requirements of Section 11-42-409;\n(c) objections to the inclusion within the assessment area of an unassessed benefitted government property, the benefit for which the other assessed properties will collectively pay; and\n(d) persons desiring to be heard.","path":["Title 11 Cities, Counties, and Local Taxing Units","Chapter 11-42 Assessment Area Act","Part 11-42-2 Designating an Assessment Area"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title11/Chapter42/11-42-S204.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"309695e73ac0f0d207003de93984328159f92ef92754b287a8066160b6e7159b","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-11-42-203","next":"us-ut/utah-code-11-42-205"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
