{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-11-46a-102","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 11-46a-102","heading":"Limitations on animal enterprise and working animal regulations.","body":"(1) Subject to Subsection (2), a political subdivision may not adopt or enforce an ordinance or other regulation that prohibits or effectively prohibits:\n(a) the operation of an animal enterprise;\n(b) the use of a working animal; or\n(c) domestic dogs from:\n(i) actively participating in an exposition or rodeo; or\n(ii) performing a specific duty as a working animal.\n(2) Subsection (1) does not apply to an ordinance or other regulation that a political subdivision adopts or enforces if the ordinance or other regulation:\n(a) enforces a state or federal law;\n(b) is a land use regulation as that term is defined in Section 10-20-102; or\n(c) is adopted or enforced, in accordance with Section 10-8-15 or 19-4-113, to protect:\n(i) drinking water or a source of drinking water from pollution; or\n(ii) a waterworks system.","path":["Title 11 Cities, Counties, and Local Taxing Units","Chapter 11-46a Animal Enterprise and Working Animal Regulations"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title11/Chapter46a/11-46a-S102.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"fbc8e7b113b66a15e5e6dfe81fc6f7a1c1239cadc0ed0aa2bc7e4a3b7b26e58f","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-11-46a-101","next":"us-ut/utah-code-11-46b-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
