{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-11-66-101","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 11-66-101","heading":"Limits on regulation of all-terrain vehicles.","body":"(1) As used in this chapter:\n(a) \"Political subdivision\" means:\n(i) a city or town; or\n(ii) a county, as it relates to the licensing and regulation of businesses in the unincorporated area of the county.\n(b) \"Street-legal ATV\" means any all-terrain type vehicle that meets the requirements, including the registration, inspection, and license plate requirements, of being a street-legal ATV as described in Section 41-6a-1509.\n(2) For any business, including a business that rents one or more street-legal ATVs, a political subdivision may not as a condition of the business obtaining or maintaining a business license or permit:\n(a) require any additional inspection, registration, or license plate requirements, including requiring any additional sticker or other identifying mark, for any street-legal ATV owned or rented by the business;\n(b) require any equipment modifications of a street-legal ATV owned or rented by the business; or\n(c) limit the amount of street-legal ATVs owned or rented by the business.\n(3) A political subdivision may not revoke or fail to renew a business license or permit of a business based on the violation of a traffic ordinance or other local ordinance by any customer of the business operating a street-legal ATV.\n(4) A political subdivision may not enact or enforce an unreasonable noise ordinance that imposes a fine or other penalty for the operation of a street-legal ATV.","path":["Title 11 Cities, Counties, and Local Taxing Units","Chapter 11-66 All-terrain Vehicle Regulation"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title11/Chapter66/11-66-S101.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"e6637df3bd4eace69c383172645834ea8c266c4738c7824754eb4f1dae884e09","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-11-65-701","next":"us-ut/utah-code-11-67-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
