{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-13-11-2","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 13-11-2","heading":"Construction and purposes of act.","body":"This act shall be construed liberally to promote the following policies:\n(1) to simplify, clarify, and modernize the law governing consumer sales practices;\n(2) to protect consumers from suppliers who commit deceptive and unconscionable sales practices, including by disgorging money or any thing of value obtained in violation of this chapter;\n(3) to encourage the development of fair consumer sales practices;\n(4) to make state regulation of consumer sales practices consistent with the policies of the Federal Trade Commission Act relating to consumer protection;\n(5) to make uniform the law, including the administrative rules, with respect to the subject of this chapter among those states that enact similar laws; and\n(6) to recognize and protect suppliers that in good faith comply with the provisions of this chapter.","path":["Title 13 Commerce and Trade","Chapter 13-11 Utah Consumer Sales Practices Act"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title13/Chapter11/13-11-S2.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"30e68aff83f7eece47fd288345a501a5d58b29806b85dba0492c7e5978e3cf8b","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-13-11-1","next":"us-ut/utah-code-13-11-3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
