{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-13-48a-303","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 13-48a-303","heading":"Certain abilities of insurance companies preserved.","body":"(1)\n(a) A motor vehicle liability insurance policy may exclude coverage and a duty to defend or indemnify with respect to a claim arising during a motor vehicle's use as a shared vehicle, based on the motor vehicle's use as a shared vehicle.\n(b) Coverage that may be excluded as provided in Subsection (1) includes coverage for:\n(i) bodily injury or property damage suffered by a third party;\n(ii) a claim covered by uninsured motorist coverage described in Section 31A-22-305;\n(iii) a claim covered by underinsured motorist coverage described in Section 31A-22-305.5;\n(iv) a claim covered by personal injury protection coverage and benefits described in Section 31A-22-307;\n(v) a claim for medical payments;\n(vi) a claim for comprehensive physical damage; and\n(vii) a claim for collision physical damage.\n(2) Nothing in this chapter invalidates, limits, or restricts the ability of an insurance company under other applicable law to:\n(a) underwrite an insurance policy; or\n(b) cancel or fail to renew an insurance policy.\n(3) Nothing in this chapter invalidates or limits a provision in a motor vehicle liability insurance policy, including any insurance policy in use or approved for use, that excludes coverage for a motor vehicle made available for rent, sharing, hire, or any business use.","path":["Title 13 Commerce and Trade","Chapter 13-48a Car-Sharing Programs","Part 13-48a-3 Liability and Insurance for Covered Loss from Operation of Shared Vehicle"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title13/Chapter48a/13-48a-S303.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"3af69be8c6993e33fd71266035134dbc4dd522c6f37aa448fc8c9ab096c378c5","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-13-48a-302","next":"us-ut/utah-code-13-48a-304"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
