{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-13-51-103","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 13-51-103","heading":"Exemptions -- Transportation network company and transportation network driver.","body":"(1) A transportation network company or a transportation network driver is not subject to the requirements applicable to:\n(a) a motor carrier, under Title 72, Chapter 9, Motor Carrier Safety Act;\n(b) a common carrier, under Title 59, Chapter 12, Sales and Use Tax Act; or\n(c) a taxicab, under Title 53, Chapter 3, Uniform Driver License Act.\n(2) A transportation network driver is:\n(a)\n(i) an independent contractor of a transportation network company; and\n(ii) not an employee of a transportation network company; or\n(b) for a motor vehicle with a level four or five automated driving system as defined in Section 41-26-102.1, in driverless operation, an automated driving system if dispatched:\n(i) at the direction of, on behalf of, or as an agent of a transportation network company; or\n(ii) at the direction of, on behalf of, or as an agent of a third party pursuant to an agreement between the third party and a transportation network company, operated on behalf of and as an agent of the transportation network company.","path":["Title 13 Commerce and Trade","Chapter 13-51 Transportation Network Company Registration Act","Part 13-51-1 Registration"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title13/Chapter51/13-51-S103.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"60281d1f1e38d3a5f7db195aab9f42a1e5111fb25736960587f8326c2e8ce0ff","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-13-51-102","next":"us-ut/utah-code-13-51-104"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
