{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-13-5a-103","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 13-5a-103","heading":"Private action for unfair competition.","body":"(1)\n(a) Except as provided in Subsection (2), a person injured by unfair competition may bring a private cause of action against a person who engages in unfair competition.\n(b) In an action under this Subsection (1), a person injured by unfair competition may recover:\n(i) actual damages;\n(ii) costs and attorney fees; and\n(iii) if the court determines that the circumstances are appropriate, punitive damages.\n(2) A person may not bring an action described in Subsection (1) against:\n(a) a depository institution; or\n(b) an entity that:\n(i) controls a depository institution;\n(ii) is controlled by an entity that controls a depository institution; or\n(iii) is controlled by a depository institution.","path":["Title 13 Commerce and Trade","Chapter 13-5a Unfair Competition Act"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title13/Chapter5a/13-5a-S103.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"0515fa21ef7fb090603a5e92af0e21fe9f5f869ce1e7d528c105a683ad659186","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-13-5a-102","next":"us-ut/utah-code-13-5b-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
