{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-13-70-201","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 13-70-201","heading":"Automatic renewal provisions -- Trial period offers -- Notice -- Exceptions.","body":"(1) Except as provided in Subsection (3), a person who provides an individual a product or service under a contract with an automatic renewal provision shall provide a notice to the individual, at least 30 but not more than 60 days before the day on which the automatic renewal provision renews, that clearly and conspicuously discloses:\n(a) the renewal date;\n(b) the total renewal cost; and\n(c) options for cancellation of the contract.\n(2) Except as provided in Subsection (3), a person who provides an individual a trial period offer shall provide a notice to the individual, at least three days before the day on which the period of time under the trial period offer expires, that clearly and conspicuously discloses:\n(a) the trial period offer expiration date;\n(b) the price to be charged for the product or service, or any further purchase obligations to be imposed on the individual, after the expiration date; and\n(c) options for cancellation of the contract.\n(3) This section does not apply to:\n(a) any individual or entity regulated under Title 31A, Insurance Code, or an affiliate of the individual or entity;\n(b) a person providing a service contract, as defined in Section 31A-6a-101;\n(c) a financial institution or an affiliate of a financial institution regulated under Title V of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, 15 U.S.C. Sec. 6801 et seq.;\n(d) a public utility, as defined in Section 54-2-1;\n(e) an entity or affiliate of the entity that provides services regulated by the Federal Communications Commission, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, or Federal Professional Services Council;\n(f) a rental agreement; or\n(g) an agreement for property management, as defined in 61-2f-102.\n(4) An automatic renewal provision that violates this section is void.","path":["Title 13 Commerce and Trade","Chapter 13-70 Automatic Renewal Contracts Act","Part 13-70-2 Automatic Renewal Contract"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title13/Chapter70/13-70-S201.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"3b711ce7f6bf49687d72bd60fbb84b41ef85555d5b6c25cf5d1f2c9e6a1c0f12","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-13-70-101","next":"us-ut/utah-code-13-70-301"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
